Early Life


Timothy Justin “T.J.” Lavin was born on November 14, 1977 in Las Vegas, T.J. Lavin Height Nevada. As a teen, he competed in a variety of BMX races and freestyle contests, eventually earning the nickname "The Storyteller" due to his ultra-suave style of talking. He quickly gained fame and respect in the BMX community, often appearing on magazine covers and making regular appearances in action sports videos.


Career


In 2001, T.J. became one of the first professional riders to be sponsored by Red Bull Energy Drink. He used his fame to launch several other ventures, including a clothing line, photography business, and several books.


In 2004, T.J. Lavin joined the cast of MTV's The Challenge, a long-running reality-television competition that pits former Real World cast members and challengers against each other in various skills-based challenges. Since joining the show, T.J. has become its main host and mentor, helping to shape the competition and forge relationships between the memorable cast mates.


In 2009, T.J. signed with action-sports-apparel giants Quiksilver. He has since been a part of the Quiksilver family, continuing to be featured as part of their Pro team, as well as helping to design signature boards and clothing.

In 2008, T.J. was in a serious BMX accident that left him with several broken bones and a traumatic brain injury. Despite this very difficult event, he was able to quickly recover and continue to create and perform at a high level. His unwavering spirit and fighting mentality is an inspiration to many.
